Title: Engine noise and misfire

Hi guys , I need some advice.  At the rtv i noticed a knocking from engine but not constant and seemed to go away. Started the 90 up tonight. It starts and ticks over fine but when I rev it , back comes the knocking and it misfires.  But ticks over quietly and normal .

Any ideas? It's a 200tdi

Hi Bill,

Maybe worth a check of the valve-train and clearances first? Just a thought....

I had exactly the same symptoms and it turned out the timing belt had jumped a tooth.

Hi guys

Ok this has taken a while,  the problem was the injection pump, now changed the engine is quiet smooth and more powerful. 

Thought I would update incase anyone else has the same problem.
