Big Wheels n Tyres...NOW SOLD
« on: October 14, 2010, 05:08:04 PM »
Got a set of almost new 235/85/16 AT's that wont fit on my Disco without mods so they gotta go. Wheels are steel modular types, look new to me.
The tyres look mint, no signs of damage and they hold thier air. Got pics but can't seem to load them.
Lookin for ?250 ish, or swap for HD front bumper, bull bar or a set or rims and tyres for the winter.
Cheers

that might help with what fits easily with Disco tyres,& the effect they have on gearing seen as a %

depends some on what suspension you have, lifted or a bit saggy.
a camel cut will sometimes be all thats needed, sometomes adjusting your steering stops.
Be aware of oversized tyres effecting your gearing & your speedo reading, you can get a new speedo drive, but being as the speedo isnt accurate in the first place you probably wont have a problem.

the pcd of a defender 5x165 is the same as a Disco 1, not all modular wheels are the same tho in the offset/backspacing, more important whan you go with bigger tyres, 235/85/16 shouldnt cause a problem on a defender fit wise.

might be worth keeping the larger tyres. the one weakness of discos is its smaller tyres and grounding out on your difs. make a big diference to the discos ability in the rough with the better clearance.
