Smoking after valve adjustment.
« on: March 09, 2013, 04:43:55 PM »
300Tdi:

My rockers were sounding a bit rattley, so I've adjusted the valve clearences, as per the manual to the correct gap.
The engine sounds much better, but it's much more smokey than before, even when well warmed up.
It's a fairly old 300Tdi, have I either opened or closed the gaps too much?

Thanks in advance.

Mike.

First of all
How did you set tappers rule of 9?? 1 being radiator side
What gap did you set tappets to 0.008"???
Was the engine cold ?
What color is the smoke ?
