Series ride hieght
« on: December 02, 2011, 05:21:53 PM »
Hi i fitted a new set of rear 11 leaf springs to my 1980 series 3 the other day,     but the rear still seems to be sitting a bit low

It is sitting arse down a bit.  What im asking is how do others series sit?  could it be my shocks are fubar?

cheers Greig

did you tighten all the hanger and spring eye bolts when the motor was on the ground?  if you tighten the bolts with the motor jacked up the springs could be in the wrong position, long term this would cause the spring eyes to break, more so on parabolics

yea all bolts were tightened with landy on 2 poster  but i don`t see how that will affect them? As i thought as they are all bushed and moveable anyway?

The shocks are the originals and my thinking was they are gubbed and so there not giving any resistance to the springs?

Are the spring hangers the same length?

Some have military ones which are longer you could have a mix.

no both the same Bill it sat low before but the old springs were gubbed and broken twisted so thought it would perk it up

Is it a short or long wheelbase? Ive just counted the leafs in my 109SW and there's only 9 leafs...........unless ive counted wrong :-\.

I got heavy duty springs fitted (poss one ton ones-id have to look back the paperwork )and it brought her up square. Previously she was star gazing when her lights were on!!!! This is her 3rd set!! All previous standard sets have been carp and she sat down in her bum. I'll have another look tomorrow.............

Supposedly, they look it not a mark or bit rust on them, even an untouched sticker

The garage challenger 4x4 says they trial fitted 3 sets to a series and then found out it had had the hangers fitted wrong so they sold 3 sets as new
