Defender Td5 Clutch Problem
« on: September 29, 2012, 01:18:33 PM »

Looking for a bit of advice - currently having trouble selecting gears, particularly 1st and reverse.  I've adjusted the nuts at the master cylinder push rod, which helped for a while but that hasn't solved the problem.  I also seem to be losing clutch fluid, but I cannot see any obvious leaks.

Any ideas - hope its not the clutch itself, as the Haines manual say the engine need to come out to change this.  Is this correct??

Cheers,

if you are losing fluid but cant see it then the slave is away, the fluid leaks into the bellhousing

There is a drain hole or plug at the bottom of bell housing (un bolt plug) check that for leaking fluid and to do clutch it is easier to drop gearbox.
