Just thought I would get us off the hot air topic as its getting a bit long winded. What I am looking for is a volunteer to write a short article on the w/e for the club news letter, this would be appreciated as the editor is always looking for contributions.

Of course any such article would have to take account of current libel laws and of course my good name.

Any takers

Apologies but I will have to decline this kind offer as I am not of sufficient educational standing to compose such an ode :'( :'(, besides being retired is a full time job :D :D.

Not even a PM pleading me to do it from a joker in the pack, can persuade me otherwise, you know who you are :) :)

Mel there is a road which is public but 4x4 only,if you dont want to take the godess down it,you are welcome to take the helm in my 110  or better still sit in with DOUG he needs help on tricky roads :).

I think a notary for this event might keep us on the right side of the road :) :) :)

As it is my Mums birthday on Wednesday we always go to the Inn at Ardgour for her birthday lunch so I thought I would find answers to questions that have been previously asked,

ATM Yes there is one in Strontian it is a RBS and free when the shop is open
Diesel is available in Strontian but please note that the price today is ?1.35 per litre.
There are two very good shops in the village and one even does the lottery.

Diesel in Glencoe was costing ?1.28 per litre but at Ballahulish it was ?1.26

Now I realise that we are all responsible drivers but also I saw two gents with checkered caps hiding beside a large shed with a "hair dryer" in one of their hands, on the road out of Ardgour, made a comment on this and was told that this is a very regular occurance as people think they are away from the main roads so nobody is going to check up on them.
Did not get a chance to visit the site as was short of time but hope all the above helps with planning for all.

Think the hair dryer is for show only, the last I heard on "roadtrafficdefence.com" was that speed guns have been withdrawn from all scottish forces and can not be used to gauage speed. Still wouldn't risk it though

I dont think me 110 and caravan be doing much over 70mph on single track road.

No doubt we will be welcome but plod might try and catch us out so good road manners is all it takes.

Thats why if we convoy it would be a good idea after crossing ferry if we just went along in 2s 4min apart dont wont a convoy annoying locals

John, according to a few of my biker buddies, the biggest police risk is unmarked police sport bikes fitted with recorded gear. As you say, if everyone sticks to the law and don't cause convoy tail backs should be no issues.

Have to agree John on that point but it is a sixty on the road to Strontian ::) ::)

Think that depending on the ferry it would be good to maybe split up there however the owner of the Inn was telling me that it has not been a great season so far and all visitors very welcome. Also he thinks the site is up through a residential area at the back of the village past school so "in twos" would be a good idea there for sure at all times.

John have just checked but please confirm this

A class roads max speed for caravan/ trailer is 50mph
B Motorway or dual carriage way is 60 mph.

Please check but this was a relation of mine who tows his tin tent about all the time and is a retired "Checkered Hatman" although a time ago

speed limit for towing is 50mph on single carriageway, suppose it would mean the same single track.....doesnt say any different.....wouldnt recomend it though
