MPG
« on: February 11, 2012, 11:45:18 AM »
Hi,

After my 200 mile trip last weekend I can now say that I got 19 mpg , the drive included motorway, country roads and a forest track that was covered in 6 inches of snow which required me to use low ratio box,

My RRC is a 3.9 vogue V8 petrol, is mpg good ??

Cheers

Donald.

Thats about it for a 3.9 but the thrill of driving it seems to cloud the fuel cost, enjoy the drive.

Cheers Mel,

Certainly didn't buy it for fuel economy , I have a wee Clio diesel for that , it gets 67 mpg , but not difficult to guess which one I prefer to drive.

My 300 Tdi 90 returned 30 mpg on my last trip to Huntly and back "clean". Mondays trip towing a Sankey gave 27.7.

Not bad ?

19mpg is good. Not any worse than my 2.25p  109.

Donald, Mel.

Have you considered LPG and what were your reasons for and against it?

Last week it was 14 mpg dead, after a wee timing tweek. so a good service this weekend and serious consideration to lpg, so any and all info would be gratefully received.

Drew,

I am in the same position as Mel, just bought the RRC for some fun driving , I know LPG would help running costs but I am not a big fan, have had a couple of LPG vehicles in the past and both had problems with the wiring which caused problems, I also don't feel happy with a big gas tank inside the vehicle,
Finally the nearest LPG garage is 50 miles from my home.

I get the impression that LPG conversions can also be hard to sell ?   Maybe if the manufacturers offered LPG as an original option they would have a better name but if you don't know the history of the thing there will always be the perception that its somehow "home-made" or a bit experimental ?
