Never was an area where the availability of the illicit fuel would go un-noticed for long.

PS,Whoever, it did take them a long time to spot that the 'Black fish' were being pumped out of the hold under the water line while the boats unloaded at the Quay. ;)

Graeme Anderson, assistant director of HMRC specialist investigations, said: "Illegal bio-diesel sites and those involved are creating a cheap and unregulated supply that honest producers cannot compete with."

HONEST PRODUCERS. now that IS a joke.

It turns out "they" found a way to get the red out of red diesel, must be cheap/easy as they were selling it for 80p a litre.

If you leave it out in the sun in plastic containers the sun bleaches the red out of it  but I didn't say that...

Fullers earth has been used for a long time to remove the red,
it does not remove the chemical marker, and neither would sun bleaching.

....and much more conversation along these lines will make LR even more of a target for HMRC spot checks. :-(

They turned up at a farm I was staying on once and made a bee-line for both my LR. They were absolutely stunned to find both were petrol vehicles - a V8 90 and an ex MOD 109 FFR.
