Just had the 110 checked today at Taggarts in Glasgow. :o :o
at 35k miles, needs a new clutch, new rear axle shafts and new seal in rear diff. Hate to think what the cost would be if it were out of warranty in two months time.
Dont you just love Land Rovers :D :D

Fortunatly you've got that korean "thing" as a spare! ;)

Is it not going to need a new rear diff as well?
To slightly reduce worry in 2 months time,
once they have done the warrenty work i would have the vehicle fully checked over by an independent for anything else it requires.
It could be the best ?70 you ever spend.
Get in there with anything else that needs doing before the warranty is out.

T thats a stroke of luck you had it checked when you did,it just makes me wonder if its had a harder life than the outward apperance would suggest?

Was your Landie ever for sale in Arnie's shop in Aberdeen reason I ask is that Garry a chap over the road looked at one a while back in Aberdeen and discounted it as he thought it had had a hard life for the few miles on the clock. It was the same age, spec as yours

No not Aberdeen, checked out the history etc and it was first registered in Ayr then after a year was in Glasgow. All the servicing was done in Parks of Ayr and then Taggarts in GLW. That's why when I contacted Taggarts they did the inspection FOC since it had been serviced there.
I might have to get my youngster to do some checking she has ways of checking vehicles and their history then might give the folks a ring.
I am maybe thinking that Taggarts are piling on the issues as they get paid for warranty work and in this ecconomic climate any work is welcome.
The clutch thing is all about clunking when you let the clutch out after selecting gear, going up the box. The other bits are just advisory points but if you can get them changed what the heck.
One good point is that they did a remap of the ECU under instruction from LR. It was to cure a lack of power from the engine. Boy did it make a difference, now pulls like the TD5 and just as quick.

I had a look at a 53 plate Freelander TD4 last sunday as Mrs T has decided the surf is a money pit. It was really good but the garage wanted ?7k for it with 70k on the clock!!! I left the show room laughing as one advantage of being in the trade is I know what it's really worth and have a good idea what they originally paid for it. Personaly I would rather have a disco anyways ;D

Tommy, Interesting point about the clutch 'clunking' going up the gearbox..SP10, the new hire one i had did that..thought it was with it being split new. :-[ Me being used to an old red lever/yellow lever system 8)
If youve been using diff lock/low box or whatever-make sure its back into 'high' properly. That was what was causing the clunking with SP10. Only a smallest of fraction out, but was still enough for it not to engage properly. Found that out after the bathgate driving day!! Twas just a thought :)

Well the vehicle has been done
New clutch, new drive flanges on rear,not sure about the half shafts yet, new Diff seal, oh and a new exhaust as they split the original taking it off to get the gear box out.
Must admit the folks at the agency were very nice but I had a few issues with the service and until I speak to them on Monday will refrain from putting any comments on the forum.
