How do I check the turbo on my Disco Td5 it has lack of power at low revs.

Check the wastegate actuator first the have a habit of seizing. Google is your friend!

aren't they all like this, mine certainly was until i removed the egr and spent the rest of the day belting it with a hammer, ditching the particulate filter in the exhaust helps as does a remap, unless it stutters at roll away as this points towards maf sensor,,,, turbo shaft your looking for excessive movement up-down-sideways,,

if you have checked the waste gate on the turbo and that is ok then you may need to replace the air flow meter on the air intake pipe, this is common fault. 8)

try unplugging the air flow mass as it goes to the default settings, this will eliminate a faulty sensor and it won't bring up a engine management light.
