registration plate on roof rack
« on: October 17, 2013, 12:03:21 AM »
No doubt this has been asked before but haven't come across it on the forum, currently the registration plate is cable tied to defender grill. No real suitable location on winch bumper, can I legally mount plate on my roof rack in between my roof lights ?

The primary legislation is " The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001" and later amendments. (2002, 2009)

The requirement is simply that the plate be vertical or as near as and readable in daylight from 22 metres away anywhere in a square in front of the vehicle - so basically not hidden in a deep recess.

Unusually simple and common sense for once !  They reserve the detailed s***e for the sizing and spacing of the letters - not that the more extreme private plate junkies take a blind bit of notice.
