I lost heart with starting this group as "civil defence scotland" are already in place, but a couple of messages from jon(python) has urged me to carry on and push to get a group started.
Anyone reading this from Tayside/Angus/Perth & Kinross areas who is interested in becoming a member please get in touch.
First step is to form a committee.
-
Well I'm in. Anyone else up for it. Would be good to get 4x4's in a positive public veiw. Just think of the good that could be done also.
-
i would be interested i'm in dundee
-
I knew you were up for it Jon, if I remember correctly we need at least three people to start a committee, so come on guys get involved
-
Good man Dave
-
Anyone interested can also check out National4x4Response forum for more info, you can also reply to my post there or pm me. My handle on the N4x4R forum is jamie.read

-
if yoh ever need people through in glasgow area please give me a shout brido :)
Strathclyde were trying to get up and going last year but do not seem to have made it yet
-
Could still be in the process, as it can take a while to get everything in place and user groups on board
-
Just checked, and there is a group for strathclyde in the proposed groups section
-
What happened to cotag i thought rab bark in muirkirk was the focal point for this ??????
-
COTAG are further up the country (murray?), most groups only serve their county
-
I'm in interested and based in Perth.
-
Excellent, cheers Graham
-
Ok, so a few replies now.... If interested parties would like to pm me with name/surname, and at least a mobile number for now that would be great. If you would like to add your full contact details it may save a little bother as I can get you in the book with full info
-
Anymore for anymore?
-
Any forum members first aid trainers? Would be interested to hear from you as first aid training will be pretty essential. Even if you`re not into the response idea, we could use your services
-
I'm interested! Split my time between Kinross and Edinburgh, usually at Kinross at weekends and also when uni is off on holiday. Done a bit of basic first aid training but never had to use it (not a bad thing!).
Will PM you now :)
-
Thanks mate, pm sent
-
Ok, so got a few leads and ideas..... Have spoken to "civil defence scotland" a while back and I will be speaking to them again soon to discuss mutual assistance etc.
They also run a few good training days/weekends, which would be good.
There is a meet in the pipeline with the other scottish teams, that sounds good.
I`m going to contact a few 4x4 centres to find out whether we can get discounted access to run training days, such as recovery.
Any other ideas/contacts, just give me a shout.
Cheers guys
Jay
-

Any help needed in Stirling area?
-

-
The more of us there are, the greater area we can serve. Im pretty sure theres a strathclyde group forming, but we will fill the gaps if needed.
Pm me with your details guys.
And thank you
-
I would be interested in hearing more about what is (not) happening in Strathclyde at present. There seem to have been attempts in the past but I cant find anyone currently involved.
-
I will investigate further mate
-
Ok, so it seems a strathclyde team was in the process of forming and replacing COTAG ayrshire, but the guy, Rab Bark who was organising it hasn`t posted for a while.
I have sent him a pm, hopefully I`ll have more info if he gets back to me
-
That is one of the people that I have emailed in the past with no response.

Thanks again for all the interest guys and gals, really chuffed at the amount of responses we`ve had, and thanks to the forum admin/moderators for allowing us to take over GENERAL CHAT with all the posts!
Hopefully we`ll get our own website up-and-running at some point!!
If anyone has any questions I will do my best to answer them.
Once all the paperwork is sorted and printed(theres a fair bit!!) we`ll arrange a meeting.
Thank you all
-
I agree. Huge thanks to the club for allowing us to take over the forum a bit, and to allow us to ask members if they would like to join. Thank you. Jon
-
UPDATE- Walter at scotoffroad has offered us use of the site for training purposes for ?100 per day, which I think is fairly reasonable..... any queries or further ideas, feel welcome to post them or pm myself or python
-
Hmmmmm. Seems reasonable enough. We need to get a few fundraising ideas in motion.
-
Sure do matey, and No, I`m not getting my back sack and crack waxed! ;D
-
Awww. I thought you done that for pleasure anyways :o :D
-
HELL NO....... just the legs! ;D
-
yeah and the bikini line. :o :o :o :P
-
Forget the offroad site - sounds like you two just need to get a room.... ;)
-
Feeling left out mate? We could always squeeze you in. Lol ;D :D
-
Ok back to the point after all that tomfoolery! ;D
************ UPDATE **************
After emailing the emergency & event planning at Tayside police, then receiving a positive reply, I mailed them back asking whether they would have any minimum requirements for volunteers before they would use us.
I today received a reply stating "police are shortly to issue protocol to volunteers - Inspector paul scobbie is dealing with this matter - I will get him to copy you in"
All positive so far, which is good
-
thats great news. ;D ;D exellent.
-
Well done chaps, sounds like things are moving along nicely.

Highland 4x4 Response
-
Hi Andrew,
I know this can be a long process but I think recent conditions have helped our cause.
It would appear that we have EPO(emergency planning) on board with the idea, so i think the battle is half won.
Cheers,
Jay

Can you clarify what you mean when you say Lothian please?

answer lothian 4x4 response
In which case I would ask you ensure that the information that you post about Lothian 4x4 Response is factually correct and in this case it is not. To return home tonight having had our team out working flat out for the last 13 days supporting the community and various key agencies, I am somewhat disappointed to see the another group making statements about our group in this manner.
If anyone needs current correct information then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

think this was probably just a bit of confusion, and I`m pretty sure Andrew meant no offence
-
Hi if I got my facts wrong then I am sorry I only said what I read on the national 4x4 response forum that has now being deleted as confimed by another member that had told me about the post
-
Just for info, Tay 4 x 4 Off road Club have been working with Tayside Police, Tayside and Fife NHS
and Meals on Wheels during the Snow and were stood down on Thursday.
Cheers.
-
Thanks for the info. I was chatting to one of your members last night who told me
this too. Perhaps we can all come together and operate for next year?
-
PM sent, I think.
-
Discojock, did you pm me or python?
-
I got your message mate. Tried to call but I couldn't get you mate. I'm at work now. Will try later or jay can call. Thanks again. Jay I'll sent along the
number mate.
-
Just bumping this back to the top.... numbers of prospective members are climbing steadily, but more is always better
-
i have been thinking about comms for the team once we get up and running. so far im thinking is the good old mobile phone. limited if you lose signal though. but still very handy esp if you have a smart phone. landlines for the controller and committee. c,b's are great if we are close or in convoy but a point that was raised tonight is you dont want to ''air'' what we are doing or who we are transporting. best to keep things private. so im going to do my amature foundation course and have been looking into a possible location for the training and exam. would anyone else be looking to get thier licience? possibly have it as a group booking? let me or jamie know if your interested and ill get the ball rolling. thanks
-
There is a course in January in Dunooon that some of our chaps are doing.
-
exellent. how are you getting on? i guess your thinking the same way as us on the comms front then?
-
Having had an Amateur Radio licence for decades I know what can be achieved.
-
good man, i have wanted to get mine done for ages. will make the responce work so much easier i think.
-
Got one already. Not used for many years but still got the equipment for the Land Rover too.
