WANT - single ladder bar
« on: February 06, 2011, 09:15:05 PM »
For a new project I am looking for a single roof ladder bar (no feet) at least 56? long. The black plastic coated steel square or oblong section type, with a couple of end inserts. As sold by Thule/Halfords etc, but unfortunately only in pairs. Or is there anyone else looking for a single bar that would split cost of a set?

Ah - you must have a better stocked branch than around here - nothing in singles and nothing that isn't black.  However, I do need that black finish as getting one bar powder coated is expensive.

Re the powder coating, I have a neighbour with a fabrication company and he powder coated my full length 110 roof rack for ?60, he just popped it in with a batch of other stuff when he was using the oven. I could ask him but expect it would be very reasonable.

Thanks for looking - I've got one that's 50" and it's just too short.  I could maybe manage with 52" - just.

Unfortunately the van bars have a huge slot cut in each end to accommodate the mounting feet, which weakens them considerably.

I think its back to using RHS and its weight penalty.
