Was it salt or just sand/grit?
Any possibility that there had been a diesel spill
or just a newly resurfaced road that there had been some collisions on.

I had to defrost my car on Thursday morning in Forfar, & it took 10 minutes,
went 50 yards around the corner
& there was no frost.

Fortunately only minor injuries in the bus crash near Aberdeen - I suspect the "weather effect" wasn't melted tar.   See:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-11455276
