looking for a lr90 project, just wondered what to go for, the 200 or 300. i have a lr 90 on the road just now but its 2.5na and its just too slow. i thought of putting a 200tdi in the 90 ive got, it sounds pretty straight forward?

Have got both versions in 110,s . The 200 is a solid and good on fuel even when towing. The 300 with a few cheap mods is a very grunty engine but very smooth. Also good on fuel. Cant go wrong with either.
 

mind change the transfer box as well or your ratios will be well out

The clincher for me would be that the 200 Tdi will mount straight on to your existing Lt77 gearbox, the 300 Tdi is set up to fit an R380 gearbox. Performance-wise theres little difference and the 300 Tdi is probably a tad worse on fuel economy so I'd suggest going 200Tdi if you can.

If you use your current flywheel housing and your lt77 gearbox you can fit it straight on the back of the 200tdi or 300tdi.
As mentioned try get a disco transfer box. Personaly prefer the 300 engine. Seems to have alot more torque low down.

i would try to pick up a running disco 200 tdi thats what i did ran about in it for winter as it had the better heater lol then swapped over all the bits i needed and when i ran it over the scales i got back more than it cost in the first place

A mate who is right into landrovers told me that the 300 only has one more bhp and less torque than the 200?

I've had both now and can't tell the difference. They both drive the same and seem to use identical amounts of fuel
