A really good day and thanks to all who turned out, especially Charlie and Paul for helping set up. Great bit of banter despite the weather !

Here is an idea of the terrain

:(  :( Absolutely gutted that we didn't make beyond the Kingston Bridge , when we got to the bridge the heater started blowing cold , the temp gauge went into the red then we lost power , parked up stopped the engine and waited 10 mins ( still could make the GRR by 20 past 10 )then went but same again .. Stopped again had a coffee then checked the water level in the coolant all ok so went on a bit then same again , by now there was no way we were getting to Garelochhead , so reluctantly started heading back home but it did the exact same , so popped the bonnet opened the radiator cap with a cloth and bubbles and fluid came out . Restarted and got all the way home 19 miles and the temp gauge never budged from halfway point ..   A completely gutted Duncan  ...   as it looks like it was a muddy great day, judging by the pics and vids !!

One of the best GRR's yet. Thanks Gene although it quickly became a MRR which added sparkle to the day despite the rain. Down that hill was fabulous fun and a great practical in recovery techniques using a winch 2 high lifts and every one mucking in. And I mean mucking!!
What a day to finish the year on. I wonder how all the other landies were doing while we were having such fun

Absolutely fantastic day out today. I kindly gave Greg a chance to try his new winch, Dave the chance to use his as it hadn't been used in a while and Stephen and Kev to flex their motors muscles buy showing how effortlessly they can tow a Freelander.

Videos from today on youtube.

That's not a GRR!

Gutted I missed this one, the vids on YouTube are very entertaining. I was planning on bringing the family along too - that amount of mud would have had my wife shouting at me for sure, so it's maybe just as well I couldn't come.

haha! those videos are of optional side tracks, the main route was good forest track for the most part, I didn't even get that muddy. The main routes seemed to have all been re surfaced and last time I was there much of it was covered in ice...which made for some interesting "driving" There were some nice little rough tracks but they all could be avoided if you wanted. I'm now getting tempted to get brave ( also known as stupid in my world ) and follow a certain crowd on exploration  ::)
