td5 engine noise

i have a whinning coming from my engine only at 800 to 1000 rpms anything above 1000 rpms it stops.anyone now what this might be.

Is it a turbo related noise? Worth checking hoses and clips perhaps.

As Steve says, perhaps a loose or split turbo hose. Are you sure it's coming from the engine and not the fuel filter at the back?
My TD5 110 was squeeling when Geoff changed the rear x-member and it was air in the fuel system. Went away after a while.

As sugested it could be a delaminated hose and the fuel pump can whine when its on the way out.

What were the symptoms, did it just start happening?

had it looked at today it was my ace that was making a noise.sorted now
