7th June - Green Road Run - Balquhidder
« on: May 14, 2015, 10:18:46 PM »
For the next Green Road Run we will be returning to inverlochlarig estate up by the Braes of Balquhidder by kind permission of the MacNaughton family.
Meeting at the Mhor 84 Hotel (used to be Kings House)car park just off the A84 north of Callander, about halfway between Strathyre and Lochearnhead.
As with all GRRs, this can be driven by all types of Land Rovers and no problems on road tyres. Signing on from 10:00am to 11:00 ready for sharp departure. Please dont be late. Morning coffees available in the Mhor84 for early arrivals, with the bar open for refreshments at the end of the day.  Cost is a bargain £5 for this run - members only, although non-members can sign up on the day. Bring a picnic as we'll stop for lunch at the end of the track to hopefully enjoy the views, and have some chat. Families, friends and dogs welcome, although dogs must be kept under close control on a lead at all times so as not to worry livestock.
Our hosts have an excellent farm shop, selling superb venison, lamb etc., and really appreciate purchases by club members when we stop off on the return journey so please bring along plenty cash - they don't get much passing trade up there. Hope to see another good turnout on the day, Alan

In response to a couple of queries, Green Road Run is non damaging (unless you do some thing really daft yourself) and in this case is a drive along rough farm tracks, heading out into the hills for a relaxed picnic. This type of event is what all Land Rover and Range Rover products were designed for, and won't even be a problem for a 2WD Evoque (if anyone wants to bring one). There is always the risk of a puncture, but probably no greater a risk than getting a puncture from a pothole on your way to work. Hope this helps, Alan

Looks like Alan has been busy organising a break in the weather for this on Sunday.   I hope you are all looking forward to it?

Yes, the weather gods look like being kind to us - superb scenery on a clear day on this run.
As usual, Mhor84 are happy for us to use their car park to congregate, and will welcome any early arrivals for coffee /teas, and will also be pleased to see us after the run for drinks, bowl of soup etc. please be considerate to any hotel guests with a vehicle in the carpark, i.e. don't block them in.
Also, as per first post, the McNaughton family appreciate the trade we bring to their farm shop, so don't be shy in buying some of their excellent venison and lamb.
Looking forward to seeing a good crowd on Sunday, Alan

Thanks Alan, was a great day out. Good to meet you, and a few other new faces too (as well as the "regulars" of course!)

Next GRR 15/16 Aug in Keilder , Northumberland. Stick the date in the diary folks, and more details will be posted here shortly.
