Advice Needed!
« on: July 31, 2010, 07:34:03 PM »
Hi Folks, im after a bit of advice on the following for my Disco 300 Tdi

1, Is it possible to remove the ABS system and what parts will i need and is this a straightforward task to do?

2, Is it possible to remove the Air Con, as i wont ever use it.

3, I have been offered a full set of 235/85/16 A/T Tyres, will these fit and is there any modifactions i need to do and will it affect my speedo reading?

Any advice/thoughts/ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This might help a little with the tyre question.

(this is Disco up to 1998, but gives an idea of tyres sizes & speedo difference,11%, you can get a part to alter your speedo drive. think about the effect on your gearing tho)

1.It Is possible, but why would you really want to?

2 yes, youll need to go to a garage dealing in air con to get it emptied, then you can remove the compressor radiator and other associated bits.

camel trophy ran 750/16s tyres but unless you lift the suspension (which ct didnt) they had to trim the rear wheel arch to allow 750s to fit. id think it would be the same for 235/85s

I'd also suspect that the 235/85's will catch on your front radius arms, so the steering stops would need adjusting, resulting in a bigger :P turning circle.

Thanks to all for the advice and with regards to removing the abs system, the reason for this is that im having a nightmare with it due to when the abs light doesn`t come on its like im braking on ice and when the light pops up the brakes work ok???? I have had it hooked up to diagnostics twice and also made sure they were all clean but nothing showed up!!!
