Discovery 200tdi oil cooler ends....?
« on: December 24, 2013, 09:32:00 AM »
Who'd have known there are two different oil-cooler systems for the 200tdi?

up to JA 034313 its an imperial thread
from KA 034314 its a metric thread
.... and from MA xxxxx you're into the 300tdi engines.

So that means 89-92, its imperial; 92-94 its metric, and 94-98 its 300tdi.
(oh, and don't forget that the pipes are different at both ends, so the oil-adapter will be different too.....)

Guess how I found out!
(grump grump.... two fizzing radiators later..... grump grump.... upper metric, lower imperial..... upper = new radiator, lower = car)

Unfortunately the new radiators come with a plastic oil-cooler, and the connectors are fixed :(

Graeme..... in the end, I swapped the oil-filter adapter, and therefore the whole system
(It does, of course, mean I'll need to find another new-system for the new car..... but a scrappie will supply)
