Land Rover Series Fairey Free Wheeling Hubs 24 spline complete ?FREE. (Located near Cupar) Like these ones
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260796272479&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Having stripped them both off the axle, although they appear operational one of them needs a new bush fitting. The parts appear to be impossible to find so perhaps just turn a new one on a lathe, hence free, will make good set of spares for someone who already has a pair.

Hi. I might be interested. I'm not sure how many splines my series is though? Can I check without stripping it down and are they easy to fit? Thanks. Jon

To check the number of splines you will need to prise off the hub cap, remove the split pin and undo the castle nut and washer, you should then be able to see the splines. They are easy to fit, no harder than replacing a flange.

Thanks. I'll have a look and let you know. Never replaced a flange either but I'm sure it will be easy

Hi Jon
It will be 10 spline, just take off the dust cap and you will be able to see and count the end of the drive shaft.

I did a bit of googling, so assuming the information in the link is correct and you do have military axles then they might fit, but looks like they fit with a bolt rather than the castle nut, not sure how good that would be? See the fourth post (by Phil Hancock)

Hi guys. I took off my dust cap this morning but couldn't see the splines. I don't have the tool to remove the castle nut thingy. I have a Salisbury on the rear bit not sure about the front axle.

Have you taken the split pin out ?, is it a normal or round castle nut ?

I didn't take the pin out. It's a round castle nut. Have you got the tool for it? I was thinking about buying
one.

Unless it's very tight a good set of stillsons usually does the trick

Yes I will have them if no on else has claimed them!
Do you know Dan Mayberry? If so would it be possible to get them to him, he is coming over this way in the near future anyway so would save a trip.
If not let me know 07522 032241
cheers
