When i was in the R.A.F. they would use 50% derv and 50% parafin mix to stop the derv waxing, this mix was used in all vehicles and ground equipment with no reported problems, dont know how available parafin is these days tho, just a thought.

We were using a 50/50 mix of diesel and aviation kerosene (AVTUR) in Bosnia - but even that started to wax. By December we had moved to 100% AVTUR, which was fine even at -32. No noticable effect on performance but then it was so icy you were not driving fast anyway !

Paraffin is around but don't know about bulk buying. Not sure if it is all that cheap either, and legally you would need to pay road duty on it too  >:(

...and anyway, I thought the stuff on sale in the winter was supposed to be good down to at least -15 ?

Apparantly putting white spirit in your deisel stops it from waxing, don't what good it'll (or not) do to a td5 though! But if memory serves (the misty memorys from standard grade chemistry!)  I'm sure its not that different to parrafin or kerosen.

What about central oil, will that start to wax up?
I guess it sould be ok as pipe work is under ground & tank is such large quantity?
My dad always uses this as an alternative to parraffin. Not sure about chucking it in to the TD5.

Cold last night jumped in this morning landy started fine idled fine then when i went to pull away lost all power kinda revved slightly went lumpy and died. Did start back up enough to reverse back into parking spot. Started it back up again it was lumpy trying to rev so i killed the ignition.
