:-\
I dont even know what the local pay and play sites local to me charge not really into that side of landy ownership im more an addicted collector...I see them "defenders" as a giant mechano set that needs rebuilt to near perfect condition. None of myne at that stage lol.
Be an expensive day out what with fuel costs these days. Maybe im missing the point. Looks fun though if i got loan of a vehicle thrown in for that price.
I kinda like the look of comp safari seems to have a purpose. But expensive to get into.
I do have a landrover computer game about as muddy as i get im afriad.
-
You can use there 4x4 but it will cost a bit more lol
You could always buy some spray mud top gear tried to sell it to the high flighers in London centre. that lot with there brand new ranges that will never see mud lol

Everyone owns a Land Rover (or any vehicle) for their own reasons...
- For some, they like the prestige that comes from that lofty driving position and the aura that vehicles have (what does a new Range Rover say about you, compared to a scruffy old Series Land Rover.)
- For others, they like the feeling of safety that a 4x4 gives them.... and their family (the classic School Run, if you like.)
- Some have vehicles (usually the older vehicles) as a challenge to restore to showroom condition, and Classic Car Shows are heaven to them.
- and others have them as toys. Just like the favorite football clubs strips; or remote-control cars; or musical instruments - they are there to be enjoyed by using them.
For this last group, again there are a myriad of different users:
- Some like the ability to journey to far-flung places (like Africa or Eastern Europe)
- Some like the ability to explore the wilds of the UK.... either in formal "Green Lanes" like trips, or more individual explorations.
- Others have a competitive streak: they like to push themselves, and their vehicles... and enjoy the cameradere of trying to do better that others.
- This competiton can be speed, or it can be trials - each has their own challenges.
- Finally, you have the group that just like to go out and get mucky: like all of us who are kids at heart, there is nothing better than the risk of mud and water and getting stuck.
Personally, I get my enjoyment from driving a piece of land, and finding routes that others can race on. The challenge for me is to find a route that is enjoyable by a wide range of competitors; is a flowing route but not an overly fast one; and that gives some spectical for the marshals watching.
Each to their own, and the greater the diversity the better our club will be :)

Amen brother

Was it inverness4x4adventure that had camping facilities or you were allowed to pitch a tent , when it first opened ?
-
I think it may have been I could find out for you if you want?
The guy seems alright.

Nicely put Ian :)
-
yeah that be cool

Anyone know the details for Lamancha or Drumclog? I have tried loads of searches (on here and google) but just seem to bring up different club visits :-[
Cheers
-
Lets not forget another important group - those who have Landrovers ( and other lesser 4x4s...) as working vehicles - most of the Defenders and a fair proporton of Discos in this part of the world have dogs, cattle feed and tools in the back. ;)
-
The times ive been to Lamancha it was ?20 and play all day but ive not been for a while
-
I agree brilliantly put Mr pilot....
I hope i fall into the annoying question asking rebuliding type. Always had a thing for the mechanics of stuff and how it works.
Maybe oneday when i have more time and money i can buy a toy landrover and learn proper offroading. At present i use my landrovers for work not on the land but just through choice and their damn cheap to insure, repair and failry cheap to run if offset against my daily wage. For this reason i cant risk damaging them.
Have been to Lamacha a good few times as i got my 110 repaired there and had a blast round in phils beast rangerover which i do admit with him behind the wheel was alot of fun.
Huge fan of landrovers whatever their being used for.

Hi folks I asked about camping and prices for groups here is the replay.
Hi Richard
There is a good spot a couple of hundred yards or so down the road
which is on the lochside and has space for a few cars, wild camping!
We offer the H4WD Club and The HighlandResponse Team 20% off our full
day prices so it brings it down to ?25 for a full day per vehicle +
the ?5 each additional driver.
We are open on the Saturday with bacon rolls, coffee etc without
booking and Sundays are for a minimum of 8 vehicles with prior
booking so just let us know if and when you decide which weekend so
we can book you in for the Sunday.
If you need any more info feel free to ask. The Adventure Course is a
2 mile course which keeps your hands busy constantly, no long
stretches of straights for miles before you come to something. It has
been designed as a moderate course which should keep your roadgoing
car in one piece to get you home. The Zone is definitely for modified
vehicles either trailered or not trailered. Your club members are
welcome to leave the trailers on-site during your visit till you are
ready to go home.
One thing, no quads or motorbikes are allowed on site.
Hope this all helps.
Would any one be interested in going along for a play?

Drumclog - Kenny Telfer - oh 7808 328 74 one
