td5 problem

Hi all just a quick one, work in a local garage part time and had a call from customer today about td5 90. will start with clutch in, will free wheel with diff box in neutral but some ware between the two it is solid. I'm thinking poss clutch lay shaft or gearbox just wondered if anyone else has come across this before.

Have had a gearbox jammed in one gear,selecting another gear resulted in the box  being absolutely solid,cause was the small springs inside the syncro hub breaking and then jamming the hub from moving. The motor could be driven though, only by starting and moving in the jammed gear.
