Front brake pipes, landrover td5 52 plates
« on: October 22, 2012, 07:26:20 PM »
Hi all, my landrover got an advisory on the front brake pipes which lead fron the flexi hose into the brake capliers.

I was thinking of replacing them. Myself and rather than buy the 2 x pipe sections was thinking of buying copper tubing and pipe flaring kit.

My questions are is that acceptable or are you meant to use the premade steel small pipes as they run from the flex hose into the calliper?

Secondary what diameter of pipe and fittings size do I need for the landrover?

Many thanks in advance.

John

you can make them no problem standard brake pipe and fittings , maybe best to get someone to show you first though or at least practice a few before you put them on the car
i prefer kunifer pipe rather than copper its harder but does a better job and is more likely to come off again in the future if reqd, i think brake pipe is 3/16 or 4mm
have a look at clarik.co.uk or go to your local factors

Have a look on You Tube. There are tutorials about making brake pipes. Once you have done one you will have the confidence to do any of them.
the fittings are imperial.

Cheers
