It's rife unfortunatly. When I worked for BT I was responsible for the cable compound which was forever being target by travelling people despite extra security being installed. They used to drive in with paper BT signs sellotaped to the side of their white van!
After one theft I got to see the cctv footage from a hidden security camera and I was really impressed with how quick these guys loaded the cable drums into the van. I was that impressed I would have offered them a job and showed the footage to my engineers to show how fast it could actually be done if they wanted to lol
