Whats the law on tow dollies? If you tow a trailer over 750Kg it needs brakes. I know a car has brakes but there is no manor of applying them with a dolly.

I've got a tow dolly and legally they are exempt from the legislation of trailers over 750kg providing they are only be used in emergency situations I.e to tow a car a short distance to a safe place or garage, they cannot be used for routine vehicle transport, I.e towing your off roader about the country or track cars to knockhill etc, not to say that doesn't happen...... :)

That's an interesting viewpoint that they are exempt, do you have a link to the part of legislation that shows this?

I'm assuming from this that you put two wheels onto the Dolly and the others run on the road?

If the above assumption is correct, I then also assuming that you aren't saying use it for a Landy with permenant 4WD?

Plus here in the UK we like to turn corners occasionally without bending the drawbar or ripping the front wheels of the towed vehicle  ???
