Recently got a defender and noticed that at night the speedo is not easy to read, the light works but its quite dim is this normal? (I can only compare to my old Series which is nice and bright). If it is normal what can be done, higher wattage bulb or replacement speedo?
Cheers

Hi there
I have a 1985 110 and had same situation with the illumination
You can get replacement LED bulbs from EBay in a variety of colours and they are easy enough to change
Might be worth you having a look !
Hope that helps

Worth checking that the dash panel has a good earth, I suggest that you pull the panel back, run a fresh earth lead between the panel & a known good earth on the body, it may save you a lot of grief & money. If it works then problem solved.
-
from memory the speedo has two bulbs - if one is away it would be dim
-
Finally got round to sorting this, by fitting some white LEDs from ebay. They are all now bright and easy to see. They also appear blue, even though I left the green filters intact.

Purchased!
-
I bought six, two didn't work, just as well I only needed four!
-
Stupid question, you did try them both ways round? ???
-
Not sure if I did Dave, but I'll hold on to them anyway.
-
Yeh you've got to try them both ways. One of mine didn't work first time.
But, what a difference. Sorry I don't have a before photo but the old bulbs were crap.
