Mudmaster 2012

MudMaster is looking for a bumper turnout this year!

Outline. The British Army Motorsports Association and the Scottish Land Rover Owners Club and will jointly promote the GEMM 4X4 Mudmaster Navigational Trial on 6 – 7 Oct 12. The competition will be held at sites across Central Scotland with the aim of improving road safety, developing both on and off-road driving and map reading skills.

Eligibility. Mudmaster is an MSA CLUBMAN event which will be open to all members of the organising clubs and up to 14 invited clubs which are recognised by the MSA. These include NILRC, RAFMSA and clubs affiliated to ALRC and the FBPMC. Other clubs wishing to take part should contact the entries secretary. The final list of participating clubs will be confirmed in Final Regulations. Competitors will only be required to produce a club card for BAMA, SLROC or one of the invited clubs; no MSA licence is required. A separate Safe & Skilled driving event will run concurrently for military units taking part in service vehicles, in accordance with JSP800 Vol 5, JSP485 and with
the permission of Commanding Officers.

Format. The event will include a road safety test, on road observed driving, manoeuvring tests, navigational tests, and road trim vehicle (RTV) trials. A simpler Green Road Run will take place which excludes orienteering and trials tests, but includes navigation on roads and forest/farm tracks. Crews will start at minute intervals and there will be a compulsory 1 hour lunch halt. Those who wish to attend a navigational training session at Dunfermline on the Friday night (5 Oct) should indicate this on the entry form. Details will be in Final Regulations.

Event Regulations (with entry form) can be downloaded from the documents section of the main SLROC web site (link)

I missed MM last year due to injury (and by the time I got around to volunteering to marshal instead, it had already happened - that'll teach me not to check the date until October), so this year I'll havbe to get stuck twice as many times to compensate!

Hi Folks,

We are now up to 27 entries for Mudmaster, with another 15 likely to enter the military event, running in parallel with the MSA one. To help us plan for the logistics of the event, it would be appreciated if you could get your entries in to Pam Norrie ASAP. We will still take late entries, but it might mean you get a last minute hastily photocopied road book, rather than the work of art that you normally get. At present we have 5 orienteering tests, 4 special driving "auto"tests, 5 trials sites (10 of Alex's simple MM type sections), a very simple road safety quiz (you get all the answers in a often forgotten little book called the Highway Code) and a spot of road navigation, using 14 sites over the 2 days.

On the Saturday night we are having a buffet supper at Dunfermline for only £5 per head; please drop me a PM if you want to pre-book tickets (pay at signing on), or drop an e mail to Pam.

Remember the are also special classes for Green Road teams and also fully tricked up challenge motors. We are also delighted that 9 crews from the NI LR Club are crossing the "sheuch" to join us this year, as well as crews from the AWDC, Yorkshire ORC, as well as one BAMA crew making the journey all the way from Portsmouth.

Final regs with a list of site locations should be sent to entrants in the next week or so.

What's not to like!

D.

Since we are not entering a 'works' team this year  :(, I will be aiming to come and marshall on at least one day, hopefully two.
