I've killed my clutch
« on: August 19, 2013, 07:20:37 AM »
I think the tank trap at Cambusbaron has killed my clutch, either that or one of the good climbs there, just slipping like mad when accelerating in high range all through the gears, even if just accelerating in 5th. Starnge thing was (for my thought process anyway  :o) it was fine in low range, although I suppose its not trying to break free as much??

Anyway, the small query is, how far do I have to dismantle, does the seat box need to come out, can I drop the gearbox down to get it out? Last time I did it was during the rebuild so had plenty of room.

Remove geabox tunnel panel, (not the passenger or drivers floor pan bit in the middle) centre seat panel also the panel directly below fusebox. Think it was a Borg and beck clutch fitted. I got rear crank seals too as this was what contaminated clutch

Unsure what engine you got in but last time I did it (200tdi) engine hoist, remove engine mountings, brackets etc, drop engine down and you can get the top nuts (bit of a fiddle) then move engine forward.

Well that's the clutch changed, not hard to see why it was slipping, but a year and a half and less than 10,000 miles, I don't think that's really acceptable from a supposed quality clutch, now to test their two year no quibble guarantee
