uj joint prop shaft front

hi my front prop shaft has alot of movement from it and loose piece of metal i was just on paddocks web site do i buy whole new prop or should i be buying kit to fix uj my 90 is a 300 tdi in case that makes a dif for the props thank you brian  :(

Props are not that expensive and are easy to change, or you could get the u/j kit and fix it however it might need both, also you may find when you strip out the u/j that either the prop or drive flange have been damaged.I would just replace the whole thing, less time less hastle job done.

Stick in a wanted ad, I bet someone on here has one spare.

Replacing the UJ is not a big job just a bit fiddly if you don't have circlip pliers.

I'd suggest taking the prop off and having a look. If the UJ is gone AND there is a lot of play in the splines then go for a new one complete rather than something off a scrapper - you don't know what state a 2nd hand replacement will be in either ?

If the splines are solid then just replace the UJ and mind to grease it a bit more often !
If its not broken you are not trying hard enough....
