Engine oil 200TDI
« on: January 02, 2015, 06:20:20 PM »
My Discovery 200TDI needs a service shortly. I normally use Halfords or similar as per the book.

Am wondering if anybody has any top tips for a particular oil and supplier.

Not averse to buying a bigger drum if it s much cheaper.

Also any special filters etc people may know of?

The engine as done around 120k miles.

Occasional towing.

Many advance thanks for any help given

Hi. I use Clarik (motor factors) in Rosyth. Better quality and cheaper oil.   They appear to sell online but probably worth a visit in person: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Clarik-Engineering-Supplies/MOTOR-OIL-/_i.html?_fsub=20885338&_sid=104540551&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322

Thank you, has anyone got any opinion/experience on particular oil types which would be best suited?

Opus lubricants in govan or millers oils in hillington.15w40 truckmaster from millers would do fine for a 200tdi. Comes in   25l drum.

I change my oil every 5000 miles (this being easier to read that calculating 6000 from the last time I changed it, if I can remember the mileage the last time I changed it)

Given this means every 3 months, I just buy cheap oil from where-ever (ASDA, usually)
