A real shame and too young. I'll remember that he was always there with a cheery smile.

If I remember correctly, he came to his first event in a Toyota Hilux (or the predecessor) but he soon learned the error of his ways and became a stalwart member of the club contributing in all sorts of ways. He will indeed be missed.

Colin Robertson Funeral Arrangements.

Colin's Funeral will be taking place on Thursday the 13th November at Dunfermline Crematorium at 13.15hrs details on the link below. http://www.crosbiematthew.co.uk/current-funerals

Dress is very much come as you knew Colin, no black ties. So that means in your rally or stock car gear, your workshop gear or simply as you are.

One of the intentions is to have an escort of vehicles following the family from Lochgelley to Kirkcaldy and then with Colin on the journey to Dunfermline, the intention is to have vehicles join the other vehicles along the route. So you would be most welcome to bring your land rover, rally car, bike, tractor etc and get involved in Colin's last road journey. I am going to try and coordinate this, so if your able to join the convoy let me know by email colin.rodger@virgin.net or by telephone 07767-726075, I can confirm times and where the best place is to join. If we split the joining positions we wont cause any traffic problems.

Remember the theme is come as you new Colin.

Cheers, Big Colin.

Thanks for all the interest in joining the convoy, were working on the timings and joining locations and hope to publish these tomorrow evening. Can I ask that if you intend to join the escort convoy you let me know, its important that we spread the vehicles out over the route so that we keep traffic issues to a minimum.

Cheers John good email thanks.

Good Evening all.

Thursday is going to be a special but sad day and Colin would be so proud of you all for your attendance, so many thanks for that.
For all who wish to be part of this special convoy, details as below. For those who are going direct to Dunfermline Crematorium, Masterton Road, KY11 8QR, we will see you around 12.45 Hrs all going well for the 13.15 service.

The Route

Colin will be collected from the Funeral Parlour in a special landrover and be taken to his house in Lochgelly. The family will then join him and the Cortege will come south from his house in Church Street onto High Street, then south to The Avenue, then East to meet the B9149 at the Commscope or Andrews Antenna Roundabout.
Turning south and onto the A92 towards Dunfermline.
At Halbeath to join the M90 south towards Edinburgh then off at Junction 2 onto A823 ( West ) - At first Roundabout stay on A823 then at next roundabout take 3rd exit onto Carnegie Avenue.
First Roundabout take first left onto Masterton Road and Crem is up on left.
Apologies for these simple directions but there is always the odd person who can't follow a thing  !!! plus on the day you never know if your beloved vehicle is going to behave.

Convoy Plan.
Timing - allowing 30 mins to get from Lochgelly to Dunfermline Crematorium ( should be plenty ) and assuming we want to be parked up by latest 12.45, can we ask you all to assemble at 12 Noon or as colse as possible, either on The Avenue on the south side of Lochgelly or on the B9149 between the Commscope Roundabout and the A92 flyover.
There will hopefully be enough space for all. If not can we ask you to proceed to the Cowdenbeath Flyover ( A909 ) and wait to catch the Cortege.

Once Colin's Landrover reaches the entrance to the Crematorium, it will pull over to let all past, but we only have approx 5/7 minutes to park up

Now all the PLEASE bits.

For those with 81fm  -  please switch it on and listen ( remember the volume - not like some have a habit on the odd event - no names here )
Big Colin - Piper 4 will radio all when leaving Church Street and he will follow Colin and Family from his home.

Please park carefully while waiting for Colin to pass and follow on.

When we reach the Crematorium, this needs a slick run of events, pass Colin and park as quickly as you can, nose to tail and whatever you do - DO NOT PARK ON ANY GRASS. Please respect the grass and its remembrance purpose.
Some may wish to park outwith the Crematorium, thats fine but you will need to allow time.

A sad day but a very fitting send-off for a stalwart of the Club and Scottish motor sport. The convoy escorting Colin on his last journey must have been well over a mile long, Landrovers and Rally support vehicles of all types. I bet the crematorium has never seen so many fluorescent jackets nor had anyone go through the curtains to the Thunderbirds opening theme.

5....4....3....2...1, Thunderbirds are Go !

RIP Colin.
