Was it new calipers?,
 are they correctly spaced?
(New discs come with a coating that wears of with time, this sometimes wears the new pads a little quickly)
If used calipers,
I would say probably its because your calipers need a good service,
they appear to be sticking. (not returning easily, or not spaced correctly)

Probably worth bleeding the whole system while you are at it now if not done already
& getting completly new brake fluid into the system before the winter.

No need to be stuck for long.

calipers and or pads are sticking and not moving
the calipers i think are the single piston type so they are on sliders check they are free
also the pads should be able to move slightly in the caliper

Are your mudshields in place on the axle? I had exactly the same on a 110 which I converted from drums to discs but without the shields, the spray of water and grit (probably from the front wheels) driving through forest rally stages resulted in the inner pads worn away in a matter of weeks leaving virtually unworn outer pads,(the calipers were also brand new) Fitting new mud shields cured it right away.

They are twin piston on a 300tdi aren't they? Be interested to know how you get on as mine was the same when I got it, athough there was a fair amount of wear on the outer, better check the pads again now. ;D
