Lee,

There is a good chance you'll not get a signal to your service crew, especially in the forrest estate(i assume this is where your talking about ;D I was only down the track from you but couldn't come to get you out). Would you be better with a good pair of PMR's
I suppose CB will be ok on a small site but you'd just walk back from there.
Mobile phone would be another good option.

cheers

Best option Geoff is dont break down ;D

Lee just walk to the nearest marshal point and they can usually pass a message for you.

But as we know, breaking down is an essential part of any rally :)

Mobile fone signal very poor there as had fone with me.
Did walk to closed Marshall but it's a bit unsafe to be walking along tracks at Forrest estates
What are PMR's? Geoff

Those wee radios you get in Argos etc. Some are better than others though.
you get what you pay for.

The only PMR radios which will stand a chance of working up at Forrest would be one of the accidentally (illegal) modified Intek MT-5050's or similar, as they are higher wattage (4W versus .5W as standard!).  PMR's aren't the best in woodland, for reliable comms you would need VHF as has been said, but this is also a pain in the ar$e if you want to press the transmit button legally. . .
