Hi, just wanted to introduce myself ... and, of course, our 1978 SIII 88 2.5DI family Land Rover, known to us as Kim. She is daily transport for me - a middle-aged mum - and my two children.
This (I hope!) is a picture of her helping us to pick greengages last summer. Who needs a ladder when you have a roof rack?
Anyhow, until poor Kim was evicted from London by the wretched Low Emissions Zone she spent much of her time in the south as we like to take her to the south of France.
Now, however, she lives at our place in southside Glasgow.
There's has been a lot of work done over the past year - in the summer Glencoyne Engineering (that's my daughter at the workshop of the brilliant Richard Hall) . . .
. . . replaced the engine with a 200DI Disco unit after we discovered (the hard way) that the last owner had failed to remove the oil thermostat from the previous 200DI. Along the way we have also replaced the rear diff, radiator, exhaust, seatbox, one footwell and door pillar, new doors all round plus window tops, repainted the chassis and - what the hell - given her a respray.
I'll post some pix of her new shiny look if anyone is interested.
She is noisy, smelly and we adore her.
We do a fair amount of the maintenance ourselves, but I'd be much obliged if anyone could recommend good independent Series specialists within reach of Glasgow as there is a footwell to be done - and I don't weld - and she is due for an MoT.
So, hi from us and maybe see you out and about.
