defender 200tdi 90 diff to axle nut size
« on: June 11, 2011, 07:47:42 PM »
can anyone help me as to what size these nuts are please. I need to get a new set before I attempt to replace the diff gasket. Is it 3/8 UNF? Or does anyone have a spare I could borrow to get new ones. Many thanks to all for the help.

Hello Scott,
3/8 unf thread is right enough, use a good 9/16 AF socket, just make sure all dirt is cleared from where the diff casing surrounds the nut to allow the socket to engage the full depth of the nut, rounding it off becomes a pain,as is shearing a stud. Where are you,I have plenty nuts and gaskets,Lochgelly Fife. Colin.

Hi Colin,

Thanks for the quick reply and confirmation of nut size. I live in cobbler cottage, Arrochar, G83 7AD. Argyll. I will be on Sandys GRR today. Will you be there? If so I am driving an H reg 200tdi 90.I have tried to get sockets and spanners on them and heed your advice. I will be cleaning them up for a week before I start the job WD40 and wire brush were I can. Many thanks.

Scott
