attempted theft of copper
« on: November 23, 2011, 04:43:29 PM »
Just had 3 gents trying to steel copper from our warehouse in tullibody. White transit van sw04abv, they are well known to the police, who gave them a caution as no theft was made. Acording to the police due to the price of scrap increase there has been a flurry of similar incadents,

so keep your landie well locked up.

Hope this prevent somebodies landie going missing.

In Glasgow a school roof was recently redone in lead after being stripped. Listed building so lead was stipulated. Cost was 160k.

3 weeks ago it was being stripped again in broad daylight by an ethnic minority. All in Govanhill .

'Tis true Tommy. Still costing taxpayers big time.  They should have got Peter Tobin to strip out the live copper .

the police work in funny ways     they are probably hopping that they secumbe to the old saying    if you live by the sword you die by the sword        years ago an entire shed was stollen right down to the foundations  the thief was traced and charged also the commpany that he hired the digger from (they did not get paid)    the week after he was charged he fell to his death doing the same some were else            were the photos to gruesome no explenation

I don't think I am due anyone an apology for the fact that I edited this thread, the contributor of the photos has been advised of there removal.

Nor did I ever imagine that as an administrator for this site I would ever have to give any reason or justification for removing photos of dead bodies!  >:(

A rather more minor scale but still a pain - I've just got back from visiting some remote sensing kit I look after as a part-time job.....some expletive deleted has nicked the hitch off the trailer the stuff is mounted in. The annoyance is it not a british bit of kit so I'll probably end up having to get e new hitch from Sweden. :-(

must admit alan it was not realy a land rover subject  but hey ho   they wont be doing any more stealing  back to the thread if the van was not insured and it does not come up on the data base with the plod being called out   that is dereliction of duty very serious offence

Err woa hang on a minute! Back up fellas before going down the dereliction of duty bit. The whole point of this thread was about being vigilant re recent theft and not looking for somebody to blame. Now before we start pointing the finger at the police would it surprise you to know the MID does not hold information on all vehicles in Uk and their insurance companies . How do you know the police didn't check the vehicle ? How do you know they didn't issue a requirement to produce documents? How do you know the driver wasn't issued with a hefty on the spot fine?
