been offered a tomb raider 110 at a good price
« on: November 02, 2011, 12:37:11 AM »
Hi all

I've been offered what is apparently quite a rare tomb raider edition 110 double cab for a fantastic price.

Does anyone on here know much about them? Done the usual Google searching but I couldn't find much other than they only made about 100 in 110 format.

Having never driven a td5 what are they like compared to the 200 and 300 tdis I've had before. Better on fuel? Much faster? My current 200 struggles to maintain 70 without revving its nuts off.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Also in 2 minds whether to keep my hybrid project for the winter or sell it on to free up some space.  Would anyone be interested in that?

The Tomb Raiders hold their price because of the rarity. You still see examples at around ?14500, which is what they were making many years ago. If it is VERY cheap, just make sure that there isn't a problem, if it is in good condition, it shouldn't be much under ?10000 I wouldn't think. Hope it works out.
Cheers, Stan

Cheers lads, some good info there. The one I'm looking at is a shade over ?13k, so that seems the right price anyway

Any idea where this plate with the number would be? I don't doubt that it is a real one (if it's not then someone spent a fortune making it identical!) but just to check and it would be nice to know what number it is. I read somewhere that only 100 were made in 110 format?

I owned a TR110 for a few years - converted it to an auto which makes it 1 of only 2!

They aren't numbered - if you speak with TombRaider110 (Bruce) on the TTR forum he can tell you if it's genuine.  PM me for more info or I can ring him to check it out.

?13k - it would have to be clean and low mileage for that money, cheaper ones can be found.  Knowing quite a lot about them I can give you plenty of advice but I won't bore eveyone on the open forum with it!

that would be fantastic, feel free to send me a PM when you get a chance.

It's not particularly low miles, but it does look mint and has lower than average miles. I've done alot of looking about recently and the only other 110 I can find for sale just now is ?17k! Most 90s are around the ?11k to ?15k mark depending on how many toys it has.

The one I'm looking at has custom load covers for the back and roof, Cobra bucket seats, front wireless winch and BF tyres

Did they all have a winch or was it an optional extra?

IMHO anyone spending the big premium of 13-15-17 grand on a vehicle nearly 12 years old,
then splashing out a few more thousand to get it tidy for a few years should maybe look at the new 2012 Euro 5 engine 90's.
These are going to be cheaper than the 2010/11 models,
?21,000 or so & with tow pack etc should be ?22500 new.
Next year around April sitting on the forecourt probably a few thousand less.

I wasn't looking to spend nearly that much, but having always loved the Tomb Raider then it's worth a little bit extra.

I would never buy a new car ever again. The waiting around, salesmen and epic value drop the second you turn the key have put me right off. It's nice as it so won't be changing much when I get it. There's a few small things I'd like to do but selling my Hybrid Defender will pay for those.

Looks like an interesting thread you've posted, but all the pictures are blocked unless you are a member... shame

Just remember it will be the same as any other 12 year old LR and there may well be things needing replaced that haven't been done. Just make sure you don't forget to budget for the big bills!

You could always just register & be looking at the pictures, worth the looking to see just what needed doing.

Rust/corrosion will always be the most important thing & sadly the Tomb Raider is not painted or protected better than any other Y 2000 Defender.
That was a hard used one in the re-build tho.
Look deep into the one you are considering, 'All that Glitters.......etc'
