Needing some new parts maybe someone can help?
« on: December 27, 2010, 11:29:17 AM »
Hi Folks
Bit of a longshot this but im needing a fuel lift pump new fuel lines and glow plugs to get my 110 running. Hopefully its just that.
None of the online suppliers will be delivering till about january the 4th. I dont have transport the now so if anybody passes a supplier and live locally to newtongrange i could really do with the help. Got the cash waiting for the parts bought and i would also give you deisel money. Thought id ask already tried the local garages but they all say their too busy till the new year or they cant recover it the now.
Cheers.

 ;D
Had a go at her anyways m8 had nowt else to do.
Ok fuel lift pump is drawing fuel through i started her on a direct fuel feed cutting out the filters useing a bottle as me fuel tank. Is worked fine.
Then i fitted the filter back on and run it again fi me fuel bottle is ran fine. Connected it back up to fuel tank nothing. So took output of fuel lift off and after about 5 mins of cranking no fuel at all. Im thinking i have a giant Shell fuelsave turd in my tank the fuel is bloody dayglow green is that normal for deisel?. Also there is a very slight vapour lock when you remove the fuel cap. Hows yer 90 runniung m8? ill be restarting the galvi chassis rebuild in febuary ur always welcome over to watch me make a mess of it all and swear lots. Cheers.

Think we found the problem or possible getting close now.
Id like to say a big thanks to the guys at 3D they really helped me out by supplying top quality fuel line not the rubbish plastic trash fitted at present and advice on what to look out for and bleeding tips etc.
Fitted a heavyduty MOD Fuel lift pump for the n/a+19j+2ootdi  superb quality and fully rebuildable.
New filter i picked a crosland one.
The new fuel lines supplied by 3D.
After a few tests we have spotted what we think the issue is or we can hear it. If you put air down the feed line to the tank you can hear air being blown that be ok but the tank has fuel so that must mean a perished or holded lift pipe within the tank near the top as we should have heard bubbles being blown through a straw in water kinda noise not free air?. We ran a fuel line straight from the lift pump around the bodywork and down into the tank via the filler cap and she did try to start lots of white smoke lol. Whats your thoughts?

Scott what year is your 110

Mine did something similar after rear crossmember replaced turned out lift pipe was cracked at sender unit on the out side. if you pushed fuel line down far enough it started ran for a while then conked out. Braising torch and some solder sorted it out still on the to do list to sort properly

Hi
The 110 an 1986. Engine is the 19j.
Think my only option now is to check the fuel sender etc cant be anythign else well i hope not. Outa intrest how easy is it to drop these tanks cause no way i can get into that sender unit. Its gota be fixed soon though or its days are numbered.

Two bolts front and rear. then remove all the pipe work and it should drop out, i got the sender unit out through the side just above chassis, I would try this first as i think thats how i cracked the pipe by not removing the sender unit first. A good long screwdriver should reach the retaining ring,

Hope this helps

Hi Bill
Thanks for that info got the sender out today found a snapped pipe and the float fell into the tank.
The lockring simply snapped off cant quiet see if the tank itself is damaged, but atleast with the new lift pump and fuel lines and filters i now can get fuel too manually pump fairly fast. Gona try bring her to life tomorow with a fully charged battery and a 5ltr fuel can then into the driveway for further surgery.
Cheers
