has anyone got any experience of modifying freelanders for offroading? im mainly thinking of rtv acceptable recovery points. tow bar would be a posibility for the back, although id prefer to bridle if theres a decent chassis point. looking at camel trophy freebies they seemed to use an A-bar on the front and attached portable winches to these. again bridle would be preferable.
other point would be with engine/gearing; a major downside with manual freebie is with it not having a low box it often wont go slow enough, slipping clutch is only other option. anyone know if its possible to remap engine (either td4 or the older turbo diesel, not petrol) so it idles at a slower speed, allowing me to run slower road speed on tickover. or is there another way to lower gearing, road speed?
