Ser 3 Bonnet Frame - wanted
« on: December 30, 2010, 11:00:14 AM »
My '72 S3 88" bonnet, with integral spare wheel well, is in excellent condition except that the steel frame is severely corroded in several places. I've had to remove wheel.
Can't source replacement frame. Maybe this should be a "Technical" query?
Has anybody any ideas, please? Nigel

Hi I got a spare series bonnet.
Only piece of frame corrosion is at the support strut.
Your welocme to it, i was only going to use it for practice spray painting.
It's in Dalry, N Ayrshire, but I should be going to the tyro 9th Jan.

Just had a thought, the bonnet as the classic style hinges. i.e. A long pin which slides in from the side. Not the notch style that drops in from the top with bushes. Will bring it anyway I'm sure you can utilise it.
Anything else you need? Due to be picking up a S3 for spares.

Car's pretty good, just needs TLC.
Hope Buffalo Bill can provide a heater motor.
Springs are tired.  Noisy transmision & mega oil leaks.  May need O/S hub assembly.  Passenger door frame disintegrating.
I fancy a Kenlowe fan, electronic ignition & inertia reel belts sometime.

I'd use the term Heater Motor loosely, more like an air agitator :D
Find the White 110 for the bonnet.
