look out for the tourists
« on: May 03, 2011, 02:33:02 PM »
I was driving back from Kinlochleven on Monday after a weekends hillwalking when I saw 2 cracking 101`s coming down through Glencoe, both with Dutch plates...both waved. Before I got to the Rannoch Moor viewpoint car park for my bacon roll at the chuck wagon I had came across a number of S2`s and S3`s towing caravans also with Dutch plates. Upon arriving at the carpark for my breakie I met these guys, turns out they are part of a 30 strong group of vehicles from a Dutch Landrover club who are touring Scotland. So if you see them give them a wave and go over for a chat. The guy who owns the Series 2 below (2a lightweight I think!!) showed me a factsheet full of his vehicles history....1972 ex German army.

Hi Alan
They are a great bunch of people. We met up with them on Sunday at their camp at Inverarnan and took them on a tour of the tracks/roads near Glen Falloch. That lightweight was with us and the 101GS with the rag top, did you see the size of the wheels on it!!
They had vehicles ranging from a Series1 to a G4 Range Rover and just about everything in between.
Geoff
PS I think some of them are going to Billing in July :)

These guys I spotted on the A82 heading towards Loch Lomond last Saturday
Got a wave from each of them as i was driving in opposite direction
I wish I knew more,
But then, don't we all.

Couldn't keep an eye on her, John, even though they were right behind me. All I could see in the mirror was a great big radiator grill!!
Brilliant!!
