A thought for Lily, please donate
« on: May 06, 2013, 08:49:48 PM »

Guys,

On the 18 May, Anne & I will be walking the West Highland Way for a charity called SANDS (stillbirth and neonatal death society). We be walking over 6 days and hopefully raising as much as we can for this worthwhile charity.

The walk is approx 95 miles (150km), its starts in Milngavie just outside Glasgow and finishes in Fort William. I've included a map below for those of you who don't know Scotland very well.

I work very closely with Lily's grandmother and you can imagine the impact this tragedy has had on the family losing their first grandchild.

Message from Lily's Mum : Our beautiful daughter Lily was born asleep on the 5th of January 2013. We had no idea anything was wrong until the moment she was born and we still can't believe she's gone. We will never forget our little angel and feel that raising money for SANDS in Lily's name is a fitting legacy to our little girl who was the spitting image of her Daddy. Lily will be remembered forever by her Mummy, Daddy, 2 sets of Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, Great Granny and extended family and friends. She was a perfect little baby and there are no words to describe how much we miss her.

Any donation you can make to our page is much appreciated and we really do mean it. SANDS, amongst other things, provide memory boxes for parents that include teddies, blankets, inkless hand and footprints etc, these are items that we cherish and are so grateful to have.

SANDS also provide various support to bereaved parents and also do research into why babies are stillborn. Please help us help them.

Thanks for all your support and encouragement. Rebecca and Gary - Lily's Mummy and Daddy xxx

Please donate whatever you can. Thank you

Just about organised for our travels. Hoping the rain stays away :-\

We've now managed to raise well over £4000 between the teams. Team Lily did a great job in the Glasgow 10k marathon at the weekend.

Please help us to get it to £5000

Thank you

Thanks Guys, sorry for not posting, not had a great signal for a few days.

Day 1 Milngavie - Balmaha 20 miles

A long wet day but we struggled through, a well deserved few pints at the end.

Day 2 Balmaha - Inverarnan 21 miles

Mega blister, had to walk 21 miles in agony but a least the weather was better. This was a tough day, left the B&B at 8.45 and got to the hotel at 9.30pm pure torture.

Day 3 Inverarnan - Tyndrum 12 miles

Weather was fantastic all day but the blister is hell.

Day 4 Tyndrum - Glencoe 19 miles

Not too bad a day weather wise but blister is now raw, combined with a bit of sunburn on the forehead :(

Day 5 Glencoe - Kinlochleven 9 miles

Very steep to start, not a long day but sore on the old knees. Wet, windy, very cold and sunny, yep this is typical Scottish weather.

Last ay tomorrow into Fort William, 16 miles and the forecast is rain, rain and more rain.

Wish us luck, I'll post photos once I get a good reception

Please donate what you can on the link above, we are now over the £5k, thanks again to those who have donated.
