50th Anniversary 300TDi
« on: November 26, 2011, 03:11:06 PM »
I have always believed that there was two versions of the Defender 50th Anniversary Models. The first was V8 powered and had automatic transmission, were painted blue and were to Canadian spec. The other was the Heritage model with the Td5 engine and I believe were all green.
On another site a guy is selling what he describes as a 50th Anniversay 300Tdi (1998) with manual transmission and painted red. He states that there was only about 150 made but I can find no reference to this model anywhere.

Any info?

Are you sure he isn't referring to a Discovery?

i think you are right, check out landrover on wikipedia it lists all the editions, it may be one a dealer has made up themselves though.

There were indeed 300TDi "50th" Anniversary's produced.  There are rarer than 'proper' 50ths (385) but obviously nowhere near as much in demand.  They were traditionally produced in Atlantis Blue but were available in different colours.  They were all 'dealer special editions' and there is nothing to reflect they are 50th editions (no number plaques etc).

The 50th was similar to a NAS spec defender.

There is a bit on defender50th.co.uk about them if you are interested in finding out more.

If anyone ever finds out where the only genuine Black 50th is do let me know!  I miss my 50th but I don't miss filling it up with petrol!

That van has the strangest rear door set up I've ever seen. Is that a pick up drop-down tailgate???

He said himself he'd put a tailgate on it - the "catflap" is a Series item - We've one on our 2A "project".
