Title: Heater plugs
Post by: Flying scotsman on August 26, 2012, 08:40:14 PM
When changing the heater plugs, one of them snapped off, the bottom third is stuck in the head. :'(

Any ideas how to get it out, without removing the head.
I have tried a small tap,  but I think the end must be welded in
Most of the things online are for the heater plug when it snaps flush.

Any ideas ?

Cheers

If it's not blowing when the engine's running - leave it where it is.  Depending on what engine it is - it'll probably still start on 3 plugs.  If you try and drill it out with the head in place all the swarf will fall into the cylinder

I ran my first Disco 300tdi for 3 yrs with one duff plug that refused to come out.

It will start no problem with no plugs at all , only when it's really cold will you need the plugs , and then it should still start no problem
