I'd suggest a 300tdi
... that way you can practice before I get my 200tdi chassis up to you ;-)

So what's happen with stumpy 3 today then?

My vote is for the 300 Tdi in that little buggy. Tweek the pump, fit some special tracks and it would go just about anywhere  :D

hi Kieron
You missed a topper of a timmed trial today great turn out and a brill new site at Sheildhill.
Ground was very slippy today to the point that it was very hard to get grip and the turns I am very keen to see how and if a v8 will cope or not on a 80inch wheel base so get it out next wk and we will find out  :D

Title: Re: chopped
Post by: hunter on November 24, 2013, 08:13:53 PM
If you have ever wondered if landrover used one or two chassies to stretch a lse chassie the answer is they cut one chassie in half and stretched it 8inches if you look at the pic you can see the weld marks where they have stretched it

Stumpy 4 has had an initial primer-coat, to stop rust forming on the bare metal.

There're a couple of wee fettle-welds to sort, and then I can do a trial-fit of the engine & gearbox...

new engine in looking more promising in getting to the trial on sunday
Just bits and pieces to tidy up who would have thought changing a 2.25 to a 2.5 would have so many problems ???

Having a clearout  so here is the first thing I have to go stumpy 2 as it has a 3.9V8 and 4 speed auto the car I want to build will be yes a TDI (for Starr)

good springs and shocks
prop shaft shorted and fitted
new range rover exhast
also range rover v5 if required
you can see from the past photos what you are buying £1850 ono  call Dave 07930181288

Having a problem...............
Trying to fit 300tdi defender short bell housing LT77 and at least a 15inch back prop shaft and a 3inch radiator into a set back front set back 80 this does NOT FIT  :-\ I heard that a P38 diff is shorter can anyone tell me by how much it is shorter?
If I can not get this to work has anyone got a series 3 box not very keen on using this as the gearing is to high making me change both diffs  :(
Title: Re: chopped
Post by: hunter on February 17, 2014, 09:05:08 PM
After much measuring 14 1/2 inch prop shaft, defender LT77 and a 300TDI leaves me 6 1/2 inches to fit a radiator, electric fan and 2 head light bowls behide the front grill (possible?)

Title: Re: chopped
Post by: hunter on February 21, 2014, 10:47:56 PM
managed to get the 300TDI onto the LT77 lowered it into the chassie and now bolted it to the propshaft, so far it all looks well won't know if it all fits untill I get the front panel and radiator in  :)
It even looks like the gear stick will be in  the correct place :)

I had to make the light behide the grill front panel as these are very rare and hold their money well!!! If I want to paint it light green this is the front panel I need to have, It also gives me more problems so engeine needs to be moved back as it hits the grill not much chance of getting lights behide the grill lol I am looking for a lights through the grill and a full lights behide the grill just in case any one has one, anyone?????
