Fuel leak
« on: June 23, 2010, 07:26:33 AM »
Hi All,

After noticing a fuel smell in my 93 RRC I have discovered
a slight leak which shows on one of the small fuel pipes
above the fuel tank, can't see exactly where it's coming
from due to access problems. Anyone know the best way
to access these pipes, is there a panel on boot floor or
do you need to drop fuel tank?
Thanks
Donald.

Cars up to a certain age had a round access hole.  You can either make an access hole if one isn't there or drop the tank.  The likelihood is you will have to drop the tank to make the repair.  If you are keeping the car I would put a plastic tank in there (if it doesn't have one already) and probably replace the pump.  Give it a good waxoyl and put it back together.

my dad had this on his rrc, the pipes that go into the pump/sender rust and get porous, theres a wee hatch above it iirc, but the screws are probably soft with rust and usually need drilling out,so its safer to drop out the tank,cheers-dan

Thanks Guys,

It does have a plastic fuel tank, I will need to get some time to look for the access panel and take it from there,

Donald.
