Repairing roof headlining
« on: January 28, 2012, 06:15:02 PM »
Folks

Just got a 110 csw and I want to repair the head lining if at all possible . The lining is starting to come away from the inner solid moulded bitty . I think it's repairable by removing the lining completely and re glueing . My question is this . What's the best glue / product to use as I don't want it to start coming away again . Anyone had any good experiences of good strong adhesive suitable for the job ?

Ive thought about doing this before.

My best idea would be to make a tiny hole in the roof lining in the saggy bit. Then insert a long nozzle for a spray glue can.

Spraying in all the bits you can get to then remove the Nozzle and use a Squeegee or credit-card etc to work the glue around.

I don't see why this wouldn't work?

( I have not tried this before! just an idea )

I stripped the whole thing, laid it on a big table, sprayed glue everywhere, strretched the old vinyl back into place, stapled it as per the original, strenthened that with a gazillion bulldog clips while it dried, stretched it into place with bags of sand to weigh it down into corners....

The result was shite. :-(   The vinyl just will not stretch into the corners.

Tried using self-adhesive sound absorbing foam, concerned it would not stick. The adhesive stuck to the roof all right, just that the foam did not stick to the adhesive.... I've now got two bits of foam on the floor and a layer of adhesive on the roof....

Currently driving about with no headlining. V. Noisy and lots of condensation. :-)

Ideas welcome.... Next step may be to try re-covering the old headlining inner with some new fabric ?

If its not broken you are not trying hard enough....

I have just covered mine with camping mats, about £7 a piece from Go Outdoors, used a spray adhesive. There is one small bit that needs redoing, but it has stopped the rain forrest effect.  ;D ;D
